The artist, Frédérique Lavios,  was educated in the visual arts and licensed as an architect.  She incorporates the three dimensional, sculptural qualities from one profession to the other.   Each piece is hand-painted using many different layers of glaze to bring depth, texture and vitality to each piece.  Lavios derives inspiration from nature including salmon, trout, orchids, irises, sunflowers, lavender, vineyards, grapes, olives and landscapes including those of the Pacific Northwest, provincial France and Italy.   The influence of historical designs such  the Italian pottery from towns of Deruta and Umbria can be seen in the artist's Renaissance line of ceramics.  In order to maintain the high standards of her studio the artist has decided to focus her new work solely on tiles and tile murals.  However, there are still a few  hand painted bowls, platters, servers still available and can be viewed via the link, "In Stock".  All of the artist's ceramics are food safe unless noted otherwise.
